Freiburg/Breisach am Rhein, October 8, 2025 - Baden Campus and Bable Smart Cities are joining forces to support municipalities, companies and start-ups in the development and implementation of innovative projects related to sustainability and the digital transformation of public and private infrastructure. The aim of the cooperation is to promote innovation in municipalities - with tangible added value for people, administration and the economy.
With this partnership, the two organizations are creating a strong innovation platform for concrete, scalable solutions in the areas of smart infrastructure, digital administration, sustainable energy supply and smart mobility. Municipalities gain access to practical expertise, funding advice and a Europe-wide innovation network. Technology-oriented companies and start-ups benefit from new opportunities to develop, pilot and market effective solutions.

Together, we are creating spaces in which solutions are developed that relieve the burden on the public sector, open up new market opportunities for companies and create real added value for the region," says Dr. Thomas Scheuerle, CEO at Baden Campus.
Alexander Schmidt, CEO of Bable Smart Cities, also emphasizes the practical approach: "Many good ideas get stuck in the implementation phase. Together with the Baden Campus, we are creating the conditions for successfully scaling up projects and bringing them to scale - locally anchored, networked across Europe."
The partnership is a further component of the Baden Campus platform strategy: as a central driver of innovation in the Southern Upper Rhine region, it brings together stakeholders from administration, business, research and start-up ecosystems in a targeted manner in order to jointly develop and implement application-oriented and future-oriented solutions. Bable Smart Cities complements this role with its Europe-wide established smart city platform, expertise in the acquisition of funding and a strong network in both the public and private sectors.
