About Mondas GmbH
Mondas GmbH from Freiburg develops data-based analytics and optimization solutions for the energy sector that enable automated monitoring and optimization of decentralized energy systems. Its software-as-a-service solution already optimizes over 3,000 commercial photovoltaic systems and more than 200 combined heat and power plants and increases efficiency through smart, data-driven control and monitoring. What makes the platform unique is its high level of interface openness, which enables it to establish effective sector coupling.
For the project, BadenCampus reviewed an investment by the parent company badenova via its subsidiary providata, which has around 520 employees at the Freiburg and Schwerin sites.
Role of the BadenCampus in commercial due diligence
The collaboration between providata and Mondas was aimed at expanding Mondas' market presence and developing innovative solutions for the energy and, in particular, heat transition. The challenge was to clearly align the core competencies of Mondas (IoT data analytics platform) with those of providata (IoT measurement technology and device management) and with the customer needs of the heat transition.
Our role in the commercial due diligence included analyzing the market
market opportunities and the growth and scaling potential of the Mondas solutions. With a strategic assessment of the positioning in the energy market and the competitiveness of the platform, we supported providata in making well-founded decisions for a sustainable investment.
